Evangelicals promote biblical framework for immigration reform

The National Latino Evangelical Coalition (NaLEC), in partnership with the Evangelical Immigration Table (EIT), is advocating for immigration reform based on biblical and gospel-centered principles. They emphasize loving and standing alongside immigrant neighbors with compassion, truth, and hope, drawing on scripture from Genesis to Revelation.

NaLEC has consistently pushed for just and comprehensive immigration reform for over a decade, spanning multiple U.S. presidencies. Their advocacy is rooted in six core principles: respecting human dignity, protecting family unity, upholding the rule of law, ensuring secure borders, establishing fairness to taxpayers, and creating a path toward legal status or citizenship.

The initiative also stresses the importance of language, rejecting terms like "illegals" or "invaders" in favor of speech that reflects grace and dignity, aligning with the biblical truth that every person bears God's image. Their record includes advocacy for DACA, opposition to family separation, and support for initiatives like the Dignity Act, aiming for reforms that balance security with compassion.
